Google Cloud Landing Zone & Cloud Foundations
Built Right. Not Overbuilt.
Build your GCP environment on solid ground from day one — without the enterprise complexity, six-figure price tag, or months of planning.
"Add Security Later" Is the Most Expensive Decision You'll Make
I've talked to dozens of founders who thought they'd do it later. Here's what actually happens:
SOC 2 Surprise
A customer asks for your security documentation. You realize your infrastructure is a mess and there's no clean paper trail.
Your First Security Hire Wastes 6 Months
They spend half a year just mapping what you built instead of improving it. That's expensive onboarding.
Developer Accidentally Goes Public
No guardrails means no safety net. One misconfigured bucket or database and your data is exposed to the internet.
10x More to Retrofit
Retrofitting security onto a messy foundation costs far more than building it right. Ask anyone who's done it.
"The irony? Setting up a proper foundation takes less time than fixing it later — and it's more affordable than most founders think."
What Is a Google Cloud Landing Zone? Your Secure Starting Point
A landing zone is a pre-configured GCP environment that gives your team safe guardrails while they move fast. Think of it as building your house on solid ground instead of sand. It's not about slowing you down — it's about making sure you don't have to stop and rebuild everything six months from now.

The Five Pillars of Your Google Cloud Foundation
Smart Project Organization
We design your org hierarchy with dedicated folders for production, staging, and dev. Apply policies at the folder level so security rules propagate automatically.
IAM & Access Control
Least-privilege from day one. We configure predefined roles for your developers and never use primitive Owner/Editor permissions. Your team gets what they need — nothing more.
Network Security
Private VPCs, default-deny firewall rules, VPC Flow Logs enabled. Your services stay off the public internet unless there's a specific reason they need to be there.
Audit Logs & Monitoring
Cloud Audit Logs turned on from day one, Security Command Center standard (free) enabled, and basic alerting configured. You'll always know what happened and when.
Terraform Infrastructure as Code
Everything is defined in Terraform — not clicked together in the console. Your foundation is reproducible, version-controlled, and ready to hand to your next engineer.
Enterprise Features You Don't Need Yet
Most consultants try to upsell you on complexity you don't need. Here's what you can safely skip until you're bigger:
VPC Service Controls
Overkill until you have serious compliance requirements. Skip it.
Multi-Region Architecture
Start in one region. Expand when your business actually needs it.
Complex Hub-and-Spoke Networks
A single VPC per project works fine for 99% of startups.
Customer-Managed Encryption Keys (CMEK)
Google's default encryption is excellent. You don't need to manage your own keys yet.
Build the foundation right, but keep it simple. We size the engagement to where you actually are.
Google Cloud Foundation Setup Complete in 3–5 Days
You can have a production-ready GCP foundation in less than a week — if you work with someone who's already made all the mistakes.
Day 1
Organization setup, billing accounts, initial project structure, admin access configured.
Day 2–3
IAM policies, VPC networking, firewall rules, audit logging enabled, Security Command Center activated.
Day 4–5
Terraform configs written for all resources, monitoring alerts configured, documentation delivered.
Handoff
Walkthrough call with your team. You own everything — full documentation, runbooks, and Terraform state.
Is Google Cloud Expensive? Most of the Controls Are Free
Here's what surprises most founders: the Google Cloud controls themselves cost almost nothing. Google Cloud is affordable when you're sized right — see our guide to what the free tier really covers.
The Real Cost Is Building It Right
The GCP controls are free. The expertise to configure them correctly — and avoid the mistakes that cost 10x to fix later — is where smart founders invest. That's what we provide.

Mistakes That Haunt Teams Later
Giving Everyone Owner Permissions
Use Google's predefined roles. Never use primitive Owner, Editor, or Viewer — they're too broad and impossible to audit.
Managing Everything Through the Console
Click-ops doesn't scale. If it's not in Terraform, it doesn't exist as far as your future self is concerned.
Mixing Production and Development
Separate projects. Always. Shared environments mean shared blast radius.
Skipping Audit Logs
They're free for 30 days and they're gold when something goes wrong. There's no excuse to skip them.
Building Enterprise-Grade From Day One
You're not Google. Start simple, build what you need, iterate as you grow.
You Should Work With Us If…
You're building a product, not becoming a GCP infrastructure expert
You need this done this month, not this quarter
You handle sensitive data — healthcare, finance, or customer PII
You're preparing for SOC 2, HIPAA, or GDPR compliance
You want startup-scale pricing, not a big consulting firm rate card
You want engineers who understand early-stage constraints, not enterprise PMs

Common questions
- What is a Google Cloud landing zone?
- The organisational scaffolding everything else sits on: the resource hierarchy (organisation, folders, projects), IAM policy and role design, VPC networking and shared VPC, billing controls and budget alerts, and audit logging. Getting it right up front is far cheaper than re-homing projects and rebuilding an IAM model after two years of organic growth.
- How long does a Cloud Foundations engagement take?
- Three to five days for a typical startup or small-team environment, delivered as Terraform so it is reproducible rather than click-ops you cannot audit.
- Is $5,000 the full price or a starting point?
- It is a starting point for a standard single-organisation setup. Scope grows with things like multi-environment separation, complex network topology or regulatory requirements. We tell you before the work starts, not after.
- Can Google Cloud startup credits pay for this?
- Credits apply to Google Cloud consumption rather than consulting fees, but they change the overall budget picture: with infrastructure costs covered by credits, more of your cash can go toward getting the environment built correctly. Our guide on startup credits covers who qualifies.
- Do we need this if we only have one project?
- Probably not yet. One project run by one developer needs billing guardrails and sane IAM, not an organisation hierarchy. Come back when you add a second environment, a second developer or your first customer data.
